Thanks,shOt..Do they use the term MAU anymore,or is it strictly MEU now?BTW,got into a major brawl with Marines in NC.Small town just outside Parris Island.Had a friend who was about 6'5" and 250 stand up in a bar and said-no sh*t-"Marines SUCK".Those of us at the table were like,"You F*CKING IDIOT",since it was like a 100 plus against us 8-10.We fought.Ended up partying together somewhere else.True.[ ][82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

That is Old Corps. They don't do the 'jail or Corps' thing.
The MEU can be task oriented too. Some carry a tank platoon with M1a1s.
Some go heavy on a particualr thing too, like more harriers for less CH-53s.
There were a few small details too. They carry some SEALS and Recon too. There is a Direct Action Platoon. The intel init is pretty neat too and it even has UAVs.
BAsically a MEU carries some of everything.

Here's a funny bit of trivia. The Marines that went to Afghanistan were a MAU. The name was changed so it wouldn't be an 'expedition'.

I have known a lot of guys that felt that way about it. They came from VERY bad places and everybody they knew 'on the block' is dead, in prison or passed out in an alley.
