I'm a crew member with jump wings, although as a 2A571 I'm not likely to jump anytime soon. Too bad for me. It was kinda cool at Sheppard having pipeline kids ask me if I was a pilot. You will see the occaisional set of wings on a control stick actuator, although they tend to be the dreaded ROTC/Academy wings. Like MM11C, I am prior service Army and play AF (as little as) one weekend a month, two weeks a year. And that, boys and girls, would be a slow year!

How was FE school? I applied for a FE slot but the whole shebang is on hold until we know if we are going to lose our vintage classic E-model 130's. Our intrepid senator threw a fit and demanded J-models, but there are a few H2s that will be moving around so who knows. Perhaps with the new budget out, one of the current rumors will cove with an effective date and the all important funding.

Besides this most excelent web site, there are a few others out there that any self respecting C-130 nut should know about (you probably already do but just in case):

The C-130 Hercules Headquarters is excelent with a massive image archive, discussion boards, and a lot of historical links.

The Flight Engineer Gouge page keeps expanding. Well worth a look.

Loadmashers.com is another decent source for links, TDY info etc.

Here's another age comment -

I attended SFAS at age 32, and was selected. It was hard, but so was I...

Age is just a freaking number, if you take care of yourself...

Loki, I am currently active duty AF and also airborne qualified. However, due to my AFSC, I will probably not see a parachute anytime soon. I was prior Army Infantry and served over 10 years in both the 101st Pathfinders and 82nd Airborne Divison. My unit in the 82nd was 2/505 PIR. Any thing you want to know just let me know.
