So I'm standing in line at the Fort Hood ACP getting a vehicle pass for my rental car. I see a young lady in BDUs get out of her truck and head for the line.
She's wearing a Maroon Beret and Corcorans. Odd to see down here in legland but I figure she must be PCSing. Of course I'm always curious to see another fine Airborne soldier so I check out her BTDT badges:
She's a SPC
Aviation Wings
Maroon Beret (as I said)
XVIII Airborne Corps unit patch
82nd Airborne Division COMBAT PATCH
NO Airborne Wings
Turns out she was transferred into the Deuce from Corps since she's an Apache crew chief. Got her combat patch from deployment to Astan and then back to her old XVIII Airborne Corps unit. She never went to BAC. Now she's headed for the 1st Cavalry Division. We BS'ed about Bragg for a while and I felt like an old fogie telling her "back in my day" stories from when I was there in the eighties.
Weird seeing the "AA" and Airborne tab combat patch with no jump wings.
Ah well she was cute.

Once at Bragg, during pay day activities, I saw a LEG wearing a beret and she had her pants bloused in her boots. Whats wrong with that you ask. Well nothing except she was in Corp and her boots were LEG boots and they still had the white dots on them. Talk about having a heart attack.

Thats frikkin terrible. Ive heard the same about soldiers in the 101st blousing their trousers into leg boots, but I had never seen that at Bragg.
