Yeah, separated while he was deployed/in the field. I've seen many a "separated" woman while at Bragg.

AH, nothing like running drunk[drunk]. Most people just don't understand it, you have to have done it.

I hazily remember a night at the Green Door at Ft. Beginning while I was there for school (sniper marksmanship). I ended up with a female medic, and had to scale the drain pipe to the 2nd floor, both coming and going. Of course, promises not withstanding, I had to make my own way back to my quarters after imbibing basically everything in sight until after 0400. I was a sight cruising across post in my red high top Chuck Taylor converse shoes and jeans. I barely made it back for PT, and never barfed. Boy, did I ever feel like shoe scrapings!

SF Demo

It's not the ride that gets you, it's the sudden stop at the end!

O.K. Christmas eve 1957 I went to town in Munich with a buddy who was a leg. We got drunk and we're stumbling along and he stops and climbs on this statue and rides this lion like a horse. So I said you leg MF get down and let me show you how we do it in the Aiborne. I got up there and gave jump commands and jumped getting as good body position and hit the ground in the body position. I couldn't hardly walk for 2 days, it was a small statue.

If this thread is about PT runs while drunk, I'd like to add another item. In 1959 I was with D 1ABG 505 in Mainz. Every monday morning there was 2 large kettles of tomato juice at breakfast. The unit had a policy if you didn't complete a PT run you couldn't go on pass. On those Monday runs people would fall out, puke and get back into formation. I knew of people my own self included that would fall out 3 or 4 times but still make the run. If you fell out it was really difficult to catch up. Some Mondays the route we ran had plenty of red tomato juice beside the road.

Also when I was with 11th Abn(1956-7) in cold weather we would run and your nose would run and freeze on your upper lip. A hangover just made the misery complete.

OK, here goes.

Our 1SG aka "Big MO" would give troopers the day off on their birthday. So, in the middle of the week, some or the guys in the platoon suggested we go out drinking the night before my b-day.

So next morning I sleep thru 1st call.
Hey, it's my b-day right. So half an hour later my team leader draggs my ass outa the rack , telling me to get in to my PT sh*t so we can catch up with the platoon. Well, this day we went running through the area J PT course.

I managed to sprain my ankle on the run (did I mention I was trashed) and the PSG chewed my ass for not making formation in the morning.

After I got back from the medics, the PSG told me "Well sh*t, it's your birthday, you have the day off".

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

By that point I was on a weeks profile for a sprained ankle when I would have been a useful trooper in the platoon if I had been allowed to stay in the rack and sleep it off like the company B-day policy was.

Tex out, John Holloway.

Diplomacy, subtlety and regard for someones feelings don't seem to blend well with the "Spirit of the Bayonet"!
