| Hey all....been out of touch for a while. Promotion stuff is keeping me unbelieveably busy. My boss is looking for a SIG .223 rifle, but can not find one anywhere. Also, he asked what the best type of ammo is to run thru it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Scott

| For the rifle I'd look around at www.gunbroker.com As for Ammo, it depends on what the rifle will be used for. Hunting coyotes, matches/target shooting, home defense. If you can get Military Surplus,, thats the way to go. Works well for almost all the applications listed above. Lake City is naturally best, although I have also used Igman, which is Bosnian made to NATO specs and is high quality enough for the US Army to buy it. I have had no problemds with this ammo. For other manufactured ammo, Federal & WInchester is great. Depending on the rifling twist in the barrel, you can get pretty heavy (77 grain or more) match ammo from Balck Hills Ammo and other manufacturers. If hunting coyotes or other predators, as well as home defense I like using soft-point or hollow-point ammo. I get all my ammo from www.ammoman.com fair prices, great selection and the price you see includes shipping to your doorstep. Buy in bulk to save cash,,, just like at Sams Club

| Is he set on the SIG for a particular reason? While gun rags may make it sound great, I have not heard many good things from independent shooters. Main complaints being poor ergonomics, front-heavy, not the usual quality control of SIG, and the origin of parts is questionable (may include Middle East). An AR would likely serve him much better, unless he already has one for every family member.

They said something about SIG having to revamp their 5.56 rifle (AR type) rifle, for LE anyways. A Bushmaster or DPMS is just fine. If he's set on the gas piston, Bushmaster makes a nice one. That would save some money as well. I was looking at a Sig rifle pretty hard. I bought a Bushmaster and love it. I also have two stripped down lower DPMS recievers.
