I recently transferred from the Alabama National Guard and when I received my record of service (NGB 22) with the ALARNG I noticed that one award was missing, an ARCOM, but that there were two additional award on there that I'd never heard of. One was the ADBTRAL, which I figured out was the Active Duty Basic Training Alabama Award (yes, the ALARNG gives you a medal for completing an AD basic training course) and the other was the ALB. Does anyone have any clue what the ALB is?

Ask your PAC clerk. They know all. Or at least they will tell you they do.

I am going to go out on a limb here: AL Basic Training Ribbon.

On ArmyAwards.com, they listed an AL Basic Training Ribbon.

ArmyAwards.com -> National Guard (link) -> AL -> ALB

Here's another:

This subject reminds me of when I came home from the service.I had the same three ribbons that Ted shows on this site, and like Mark I did not really have the good conduct ribbon which I thought I had eared.Now my childhood friend and best man at my wedding had joined the NG and had been in the Watts and SF riots.He had more double the ribbons I had

You know in the VFW magazine there is a monthly pic of a member; and some of them list the Army Lapel Button amongst they're awards.

I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

ARMY Lapel Button

     The Army lapel button is presented to soldiers when they transition out of the Army. There is a minimum requirement of nine months of continuous service without a break of 24 hours or more.  Orders will not be published for the lapel button, but the device should be presented to the soldier at a troop formation by the unit commander.  All soldiers who transition out of the service should be recognized, and the soldier may only be awarded one lapel button.  Do not present the device to soldiers with unsatisfactory and substandard performance records.
