Thanks for the hospitality everyone. Meet me at the watering hole and I'll buy the first round of course.

I met an old trooper this weekend in Wilmington, NC. He was in town for the commissioning of the new Virginia class nuclear sub U.S.S. North Carolina. I saw him waiting for his family at an outside restaurant with an Army Retired hat on, and walked over to thank him for his service.

As I walked over I saw the 82d and 101st pins on it, and so I said, " Airborne, Sir. Thank you for your service." He jumped right up and asked me if I was Airborne also, but stopped upon seeing my new hat (a 325th A.I.R. hat I just picked up at the A.S.O.F. Museum in Fayettenam). He said he was with the 325th at one time. He did 2 tours in Korea and 3 in Vietnam, with various units.

Did my heart good to talk to him, and also to see him jump up like that. I honestly didn't expect him to even stand up, but he looked like he was ready to STAND IN THE DOOR.
