Just wanted to say hello to all past and present 82ND LRSD soldiers.

I joined the unit in 87 when it was commanded by 1LT Michael Larario and we were assigned to the 313th MI. We were then moved to 1/17 CAV as E Troop on Smokebomb Hill before being moved back to Division Row. I left in 89 and went over to the 504.

I remember Lerario as a hard-charging Captain.

Myself and another AF Spec Ops dude did a 5 day boat trip down the Cape Fear river with E/1/17, back in late Summer of 87.  GREAT time...

What was that former SEAL's name who was there in the unit at that time?  Seemed like a good dude...

JR Capt. Larario was one of the better CO's I had while in service and yes he was a bit of a hard charger.

I was on that Cape Fear boat trip myself and the SEAL you are asking about is Dan Fozzard. He is a great guy. I have not seen or heard from him in a long time. Last I heard he had left the Army due to having had enough of the overall BS that was present and joined the Merchant Marines.

JR and Pathfinder,  I was in when both of you were there.  I broke my spinal column on a jump and had vertebral surgery which ended my career.  Mike Lerario just retired an O-5 .  We've maintained contact all this time.  He's now working as a civilian "contractor" for DoD.  He's loving the civilian life.  SFC Marero (was an E-7, but was called 1SGT) retired recently, as well, as a CSM and sells cars in Fayetteville.  Lerario bought one and Marero tried to hustle me into one. A few of the guys went on to SF and are still in.  CommoSarge

Not sure if it is the same LTC Lerario or not, but did he do some time on MIA searches? Perhaps commanded a Bn in the '04 over in Afghanistan. If so, he was a young 2 Lt when I knew him over in Italy. Saw him a few years back at a reunion in Virginia.

Abn, that is a ROGER.  Mike went over to SE Asia to search and secure remains of US personnel, then did a tour with JSOC at JFK.  Also correct on Afghanistan.  The elementary school in our hometown sent his BN care packages but it might have been the 504 or 505 (think it was 2-505th).  When he returned, he said he'd had enough of sleeping in hangars and hung up his jump boots.  Lots of BS, as well. Same guy.  And in Italy, it was Vincenza with the 325, if I recall correctly (it's been awhile).

Ok, 505th it was... Same man, and extremely highly thought of by the men in our Company back then, and still today.
