Just a quick update. Thanks again for all of the advice. I've been taking the Condroitin/Glucosamine mix for a few days now and it seems to be helping. I have far less pain than I did last week and I can't express how friggin happy this makes me. Let's hope it continues to diminish. Thanks again!

I'd say it looks like Ertman gave you the best advice, since he's already been through it.

FYI - Don't be surprised if the Glucosamine and Chondroitin don't work exceptionally well right away.  It apparently takes MONTHS to see any significant relief from using them.  WHat you're seeing so far may just be placebo effect.

Good luck to ya!

One other thing. Masking the pain doesn't get rid of the problem. Learning to live with the pain is something that many of us have to do just because we don't accept the other alternative. All of the advice here won't add up to much if it caused it to get worse in the future. Also supplements only work for so long. You can get addicted to them just as you can on pain meds. Then you start taking more to make them work better. Next thing your screwing up some other part of your body. I know from experience.

I would suggest seeing a chiropractor as well. Those spurs you speak of are sometimes indicitive of an arthritis precursor. If caught early enough, often chiropractic care can help not only with the pain but with putting the joints effected back into proper alignment to avoid the further growth of the bone. My fiance used to have regular neck pain. When I took him to my dr the xray revealed a small beginning of a spur. He also found out his knees had been hurting him for so long because he had one leg shorter than the other and the adjustment his hips had to make were stressing his knees. After 4 months of care (and some lifts) he is pain free and the baby spur appears to have stopped growing.

I've got alot of pain in my right shoulder, also.  But Doctors are quacks.  Maybe there is one out there that can help me, but all I've seen don't know what the hell they're looking at (specialists included).

It was bad enough that the shoulder itself was rotating out of the socket on its own.  So I take the glucosamine and try to swim the breast stroke and doggy paddle as much as possible.  Diamond pushups while holding dumb bells works.  Nothing over the head/shoulders and no jarring movements.

If it's muscular, this may work.

The problem with medications, they only treat the symptoms, not the cause. You said surgery is not an option, do you want to expand on that, because it may be the only option.

Glucosamine etc is short term for your problem.  Do the surgery and get back to work.
