| A kid I know in Civil Air Patrol who has his GED was told on friday that RA is no longer taking GED's. Is this for real? I thought the Army needed soldiers. The recruiter told him that he has to go Guard then later request RA is this true? Sounds like BS to me.

To check call your local recuriter to confirm. But there has always been a limit on the number of non-high school graduates recurited during any period of time. If the quota has been met then he may be correct.
My advise would be to tell the kid to go check with a couple of other recuiters in the local area and see what they say. Tell he to ask specifically why they are not currently accepting GED applicants.

Didn't even notice how old it was last night, and apparently didn't see it when he first posted.

Probably BullShit! I called it!
Education Requirements- The Army allows no more than 10 to 15 percent per year of their enlistees to have a GED. (But it's JANUARY!) To even be considered, a high school dropout (GED) must score at least a 50 on the AFQT. (Out of a possible 99) The Army also offers a higher enlistment rank for recruits with college. Unlike the Air Force, where the maximum initial enlistment rank for college credits is E-3, the Army offers the rank of E-4 for those with a bachelors degree.Got a Master's or a PhD? Are you stupid? The FBI, CIA and DOJ are all hire at a substantially higher rate.
Your right its January. 3+ months into the new recruiting year. Remember it starts on 1 October.
