Shortly after the conclusion of World War II, Dog Company was inactivated and its history lived on only through the veterans that served in its ranks.

Last week, a new page in that history was written at the Evergreen Theater at Fort Lewis, Wash., with the reactivation of the company that helped coin the Ranger motto, “Rangers lead the way.”

This is a pretty poor article from the Army Times.  The only way you know that the new D Company is part of the 2nd Battalion is the mention that the ceremony is at Ft. Lewis.  And there is no information on whether this is an additional line company for the Battalion, whether it is a weapons company like a more traditional infantry battalion, whether it is a cavalry/scout type company like the 1-509th has at Ft. Polk or something completely different.

On that note, the 3-509th names their companies Able, Baker, Charlie and Dog.
