I can guess who's not getting it....ME!

Apparently the AF doesn't think that being in a blackhawk flown by Hooahs that gets lit up, pops flares and returns fire qualifies...

The guidence specifically excludes passengers on aircraft.

Do what MM11C said, you can wear the CAB after you turn green.

MM11C- You going to be at the big AF ceremony?  or is this being done at the unit level?

The narrative and other paperwork were completed this week, but it's not on a fast track by any means.

Bro, I was on the very first reserve crew over Afghanistan back in 2001 and the crew didn't get squat for recognition publicity wise by AFRC. Oh a reserve gunship crew did, but they showed up after us....go figure.

Never have been big on public ceremonies, hell I received my army good conduct medal in the latrine by my PSG. That kinda set the standard for years to come.

I'm sure it will be an active duty affair with some token guard or reserve toadie thrown in. But I'm sure it won't be my crew. Some female fighter jock to be sure. Gotta be politically correct just wait until the publicity photos come out!

I expect that this will show up in my records like my Air Medal did. Then later some one will toss me a blue box with the medal and ribbon in it.

Big Al!

I hear that.

Congrats either way, how long before guys/gals start reporting SAFIRE on every mission in an effort to get another medal?  LOL.

Maybe they will push the effective date back so old geezers like me can qualify

Be safe, shoot me an e-mail if you pass through Kelly/Randolph
