Court-Martial Set For WPAFB Officer Accused Of Murder

POSTED: 3:45 pm EDT June 6, 2006
UPDATED: 3:55 pm EDT June 6, 2006

WPAFB, Ohio -- A court-martial is set for Monday for a Wright-Patterson Air Force officer charged in connection with the death of his 5-week-old son.

Second Lt. David Valois is charged with killing his son. Investigators said the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Valois was charged in November with murder under Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. As in the civilian system, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, the maximum sentence that Valois could get is dismissal from the Air Force, confinement in prison for life with or without parole, total forfeitures of all pay and allowances, and a fine.

The child, Andre Valois, died Oct. 2 at Children’s Medical Center. Investigators said the father has been in pre trial confinement on the base since Oct. 3.

Speaking as a father of a little baby myself, this POS needs to suffer for a very very long time without any hope of parole.

I'm Surprised Panama's still sea level, after all the Push Ups I did down there.

Dated: 06/16/2006  09:41:25 AM Updated: 06/16/2006  09:42:37 AM

An Air Force officer stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has been convicted of killing his 5-week-old son.

Second Lt. David Valois, 30, a program manager at the Air Force Research Laboratory, was found guilty of murder Thursday in the Oct. 2 death of Andre Valois at a court-martial that began Monday, said base spokesman Joel Fortner.

The judge, Lt. Col. Gary Jackson, deliberated for about 40 minutes before finding Valois guilty.

The infant was removed from base housing Oct. 2 and taken to Children's Medical Center, where he died. Ken Betz, director of the Montgomery County coroner's office, said the child died of a blow to the head.

Valois could be sentenced up to 25 years in a military prison.
