Stratcat70, if the the counsler is being dishonest with you. Regarding the ability to get BAC in your contract. Then IMO you have no obligation to live up to a contract that was forced on you becuse of a lie. Tell em you wont go anywhere unless you get Airborne school. If you dont, you will never see Airborne school. Unless you do more than one tour.

Stratcat, Abn FDC is a recruiter. My understanding from what I have read, mostly on this site, is that it is still possible to get BAC in your contract, but because of the stop loss in place you can't get a guaranteed unit written in.

Wow, things sure changed from when I signed up in 84. When I went to MEPS I didn't have airborne in my paperwork anywhere (never occurred to me that the army would let me jump out of planes). While I was going through all the fun stuff there, one of the guys at MEPS asked me if I wanted to go Airborne and jump out of planes? Hell Yeah I did!!, I went and did a wieght lifting test of 100lbs (military press I believe), next thing I knew, I had Airborne in my contract. In all honesty, I got Airborne by accident, If that guy didn't ask me, I would have never asked them.

not entirely accurate. while the 101st PFDR CO is the armys' only pathfinder unit in name, B CO 1/58 AVN (ATS) at FT. BRAGG IS a pathfinder unit.

Brian, first you need to read some of the topics that have been posted here. We have discussed at length BAC. Second, you haven't got there yet so you need to take the 82nd avatar off your profile. Third, like FDC said, start running.

To whoever is reading, I served from 92'-96' first 2 w/ 502nd in Berlin, and last 2 in the 504th@ Bragg (11b). I have tried for 6yrs. to adjust to civilian life and it just aint happenin if u know what i mean. I have decided after careful thought to rejoin, I must say it is a disgrace how they treat prior service oupon re-entry into the army. I was e-4 prom. when i left now because of seperation time i come in as an e-1, and must redo basic and ait which is fine. I am not eligible for a bonus or ranger contract, just choice of dty station, which is fine also. Since out I have been to EMT school, obtained 30hrs of college, and various other outdoor schools that pertain to groundpounding MOS' and can still max the PT test w/ flying colors @ age 29 in my age group or 18-21 group. The way I see it Ive got 2 options. Opt#1 Pick Bragg or Italy. #2 I've contacted the RIP liason @ Benning and been told by him that after basic I will have to go a Basic Airborne Refresher, and while there I should come see him and he will make the necessary arrangements for me to attend RIP. SO, Ive talked to some other prior service guys and they have said I should try out for a LRS unit instead of Ranger Battalion. Both are very respectable positions, while I do not know jack about LRS it sounds very appealing and I feel like I would be bringing some valuable assets to the table for either unit. Also I dont know the first thing about how to get into a LRS unit, from what Ive heard they pick u , udont pick them which would mean I will probably hav to do a couple a years in the line which Im not really looking foreard to but will pay the price again if needed. Lastly for those reading, ur not talking to a soup sandwich, my s*** is squared away. I would appreciate some wisdom from some of the guys out there. Thanks in advance------out.

Depends on what your goals are in the army. What do you want to do? Both have pro's and cons as for being able to attend speciality schools.
