Troopers,

Sorry I haven't dropped in for awhile.  Have my hands full though.  Let me get you up to speed on my deployment so far.  I am currently a platoon sergeant of a Sapper platoon that is now somewhere in the NW area of Iraq.  My platoon operated in the Mosul area for ~6 months and are more towards the Syrian border now.  What a great place.

I have five PH's in my platoon and hope not to have any others.  Been a rough 8 months with a pretty good optempo.  My soldiers are having a good time waging war and are doing an exceptional job of taking the fight to the AIF.  We are pretty actively engaged with the 3rd ACR and an Iraqi battalion.  All in all they are really not that bad.

Will try to get on more and keep you up to date on the happenings in this wonderful country.

Semper Fi,

Tom

Tom,

Great to hear from you!  Last year right about this time my LRS platoon was sent to the Tallafar/Syrian border area to work with a Stryker cavalry squadron.  Plenty of enemy activity last August around that region.  We rolled up many foreign AIF coming accross.

God be with you and your men.  I know you are leading them well.  Godspeed and get home safe.  Semper Fi.
