Here is the skinny on the cost of a SET-10. I got this right from the manufactorer:

Hi Peter, Thanks for message. When we receive an order from various military's around the world, we always build extra for occasions such as this. If we had to make one parachute the cost would be very high. Fortunately, we just finished a very large order for SET-10s and SET-10Rs and we still have a few in stock. The cost for a SET-10 Airborne Troop Parachute Assembly, canopy only, is $1,105.00. If you needed the entire assembly including 26-Foot Diameter Troop Chest Reserve (SET-10R) PN 420550, Pilot chute, PN 49J7161-2 (Barrel spring Spider Type) (Option Pilot Chute PN 53J7205 MA-1 type), Nylon pack, PN 62J4346-1, Ripcord, PN 62C4250, Harness 11-1-2143, Deployment bag & int. static line PN 56D6276, and Main Container PN 62J4342, and Risers PN 11-1-2149-1, the cost would be $2675.00 Hope this helps, items are shipped immediately from our stock. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Bob Gilmour "The warrior's gift is to willingly storm Hell so that Heaven may remain unstained." - R.V.A. Marcell

If you were land in a tree and totally destroy a chute to the point that a FAA Master Rigger (like myself) could not repair it and make it airworthy again, the replacement cost would be $1,105.

The only way it would be more than that is if some ham fisted moron slashed the harness up with a knive or saw getting it out of the tree.

Is the price for one jump? If it were to be in Oct. particularly the week of 16th-21st, I would be all over it. Since I will be down in Daytona for Biketoberfest. I know my buds would love to see a bunch of old trooper jump.  I will keep my eye on this thread to see the exact dates.
