Hey guys, My brother has decided that he would like to enlist and work his way into becoming a RANGER. However, he only has a G.E.D. The recruiter the we spoke with was great and to the point. He mentioned that with a G.E.D. ya just don't have a chance to get into a Ranger batt. Can males with a G.E.D. get an opportunity to become RANGERS? Thanks in advance, Randy

"Can males with a G.E.D. get an opportunity to become RANGERS?" whats the point of being gender specific?
The First thing I'll discuss are the five points of performance

When did they start allowing GEDs into the Army again? Thought that was stopped back in the early 90's when they raised the entrance requirements? Ah well... if he's able to get his foot in the door, score high enough on his ASVAB, has a clean enough record to get a security clearance, and has the motivation... your friend could possibly get a Ranger contract that garauntees him a shot at joining the 75th.

Believe GED and 15 semester units at an accreditted College equals HS degree in most cases.

From what I understand your friend will not get a Ranger contract, (straight off the block) without some college, in addition to that GED. Think the 15 units that Griz mentioned is correct.
