My uncle, Sgt. Louis Korbel, served in the 101st Airborne during World War II. Normandy, Bastogne, Market-Garden are some of the campaigns he served in. I would appreciate any info on his awards, promotions, etc. :-)

I have found out that he won the Bronze Star and at least one Purple Heart.

LOL..let me take accountability for this one..I invited him to come over and say hello. Ill straighten it out. First bro, head to the inprocessing site and introduce yourself. Once you properly identify yourself to everyone, we will be more than happy to help shed some light on his service and unit.

What you can do in the meantime is try and some research on your own. Talk to your family members and see if they know the specific regiment your family member was in. During ww2, the 101st was composed of the 506th, 327th, 502nd (i believe).assorted artillery units, headquarters elements, and a host of other units. Any help you can offer in the specific regiment will greatly help your search in finding out more about him.

Shoot me a private message if you need any help in making your way around the boards..

Jay
