Well, I am kind of surprised it took this long for me to find a familiar name on the KIA rosters. I finally found one today.
Cpt. Kurth was working out of the S3 office when I was in 2-505PIR in the Late 90's. Normally a Spc. wouldn't know a guy like that, but I spent 3 weeks with him and a twelve man detachment returning behind the Battallion in Kosovo.
He was a no BS, unpretentious, stand up officer. I personally saw him chew out several soldiers for screwing with us while in Germany. We were only together for a few weeks, but we were his boys. He was even cool enough to go drinking with us one night in Germany when we had a 4 night stopover in Frankfurt. (all 12 of us went including our NCOIC, so as to not violate frat rules)
He was a good officer, stood up for his guys, and got the job done. Probably a company commander when he died. It's a shame he was killed by a roadside bomb, he deserved better.
RIP Sir.

RIP Sir! American soldiers don't die, we just go to Hell and regroup. One day, we're going to take it over. HOOAH!
