What a sweet weapon i would like to get my hot hands on that for a test run ,I like the feeding tray feature i remember some of our 60 gunners would put a c-rat can on the side to help the belt to feed all in all nice ,Why waltz when you can rock&roll

Hope those bipod legs perform better than POS ones on the M249.

im an AB in out platoons weapons squad.  This could really make things better for us. The Mk 48 is smaller, shorter and 9.6 pounds lighter than the current 240B, so it would have a different tripod that weighs less than the current 20 Lbs one. Dont they have a aluminum tripod that weighs around 5 pounds (not that they would give it to us)? This saves 24.6 pounds. of the ammo that out team has for the 240, The most the Gunner and AG carry (max) is 400 rounds. I carry the rest. So I end up carrying 800 rounds minimum. At 7 lbs for every 100 rounds things start to suck. With the weight saved with the new wpn system (over 3 belts worth), the gunner and AG could carry more ammo without going over "maximum load" (LOL), and make things lighter for me and the AG (the m122 sucks). That would increas our mobility greatly.
But knowing the Army they would probably make our combat load of ammo 300 rounds more so we would stay at the same weight.

holy shit. 6 months ago, the second I posted the above opinions, 30 pnet members would have dogpiled me, making fun of my observations, laughing at my cherryness, and telling me how it really would be. wtf has happened?

You're a trained Infantryman and Paratrooper now...and not just another know-it-all leg cherry! Now get another screen name, we gotta save CHERRY for the next "project" that wonders onto the site! Congrats for backing up your talk with action, CHERRY, welcome to the brotherhood...now be a good private and fetch the Sergeant a cold brewski!

Stand in the door!
